Hardest Language To Learn For Non Native Speakers

While the easiest languages for english speakers to learn have some syntactic common ground with english, the toughest ones are quite alien. learners tackle writing systems, tonality, and grammatical systems so different, they can make an english-speaking head spin.. Among the major or “big” languages in the world stage, i would say that russian and arabic are probably the most challenging for chinese native speakers to learn. i assume any other language in the slavic language family or the semitic language family would be more or less as difficult as russian and arabic.. With over 420 million native speakers, arabic certainty is one of the most spoken language in the world. the reason arabic is so difficult to learn for english speaker is it contains sounds and alphabets that doesn’t even exist in english language..

The chart is just showing what the hardest language to learn for most native english speakers is. obviously there will be exceptions. the chart basically is talking about people whos mother tongue is english and did not learn any other language at a young age.. Add that to the fact that chinese is a language rich in homophones and full of idioms and aphorisms picked up over the course of its long history, and mandarin becomes arguably the most difficult language in the world for an english speaker to learn.. For example, japanese might be one of the hardest languages out there for a native english speaker (or so i’ve often heard), but for a korean person learning japanese, this latter will be infinitely easier than to learn english, simply because japanese and korean have so much more in common than korean and english..
